Santa Catalina Estates Neighborhood Watch
Assault on 1st Avenue
On the morning of Thursday February 18th, a neighbor from the Shadow View neighborhood was assaulted on 1st Avenue after leaving Santa Catalina Estates. The assault was very violent resulting in serious injury. Thanks to the vigilance of a concerned neighbor, the perpetrator was followed and arrested, right before he was stalking another person.
Concerning news is a similar assault occurred on Tuesday February 16th on Orange Grove, by Orange Grove Middle School. Unfortunately, this assault was not reported to the Sheriff's office.
I implore you to be vigilant while you are walking / running / biking in our neighborhood. If an encounter does not "feel" right, it probably is not. Do not assume that if you walk / run away or leave the area that the abuse will stop. It is key to call 911 if you feel threatened. If you have an encounter that does not feel right, please call the Sheriff's Non Emergency Number: 520-351-6311
While the Nextdoor App is helpful to learn what is going on, this is not monitored by the Sheriff's and is not the official source of record.

Mail Stolen
There has been talk that Mail was taken out of mail boxes on Chula Vista Road.
While there have been no official reporting of these incidents, again posting on Nextdoor is not an official report.
It is important to monitor your mail, and perhaps take extra safeguards with a locking mailbox.
Did you know that you can sign up for a service through the US Postal Service that will provide you with a daily email of what mail will be delivered?
It's free, and it is called USPS Informed Delivery. It is easy to sign up for and you will receive a daily email showing you what to expect in your mailbox that day. Go to USPS.com
Update-
Neighbor reported that 2 women came to her door selling cleaning supplies. It struck her as odd what with the stay-at-home orders we are all trying to follow. Dressed in black, with backpacks and spray bottles. No info on vehicle they were driving or business name. She said they were friendly. Just something of which to be aware, especially if children are at home alone.
Santa Catalina Estates Crime / Vandalism Update:
Thursday February 20th - ~10:30 p.m.
A long time (+30 Years) Resident on Calle de Estevan had their Front WindowVandalized. "A person(s) bashed our front window, breaking the first pane with a rock"
The Home Owners are fairly certain that the person(s) were on foot. They did not hear a car speed away, etc., and their dogs were not alerted.
